can i change a key that i never use to give me a tick (check mark)? I would find this more useful when filling in forms.

do you mean the key mapping for a specific key on the keyboard, so that if you press the number 1 you get a check mark instead.

this can be done with software but i do not know of any free applications that would do that try this web site.
