while in itunes i imported songs from another folder on my computer. thinking, i didn't need the songs in both , i deleted the folder that i imported the songs from. now when i play the songs it says it can't find the song. is there a way keep them in itunes? i only deleted the folder because i thought having the same songs in both places meant i was using twice the space.

I'm confused . . .you said you imported songs into iTUNES, so if that's what you did, they should be found by iTUNES because they should be in the iTUNES music library.

Check your iTUNES library (C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTUNES Music\*.*) and see if the songs you think you imported are there. If you imported them into iTUNES, it may be a clue if they are or are not there.

What were the import settings in iTUNES Preferences (the import settings tab you want is General and it is in the Advanced tab)?? The General tab should show where your imports went.

And if the song is on a playlist (or in "Music" for that matter), just highlight it and then go to File>Get Info, and the path to the file will be shown at the bottom of the Summary pane (the Where section).

Oh . . . one other question. Were the songs you imported in a format that iTUNES recognizes?? (From the iTUNES main help page, under "If you can't play a song": "Older AAC files that you find on the Internet or elsewhere won't play in iTunes".

And another question . . . did you add the individual song file to the iTUNES library or the folder that the song was in??

And thanks for the heads up . . . I didn't have that checked either, though I don't import any songs. If I ever do, now I won't have the same problem you had.
