Hi ,

I have two hard disks , each in one computer. In the first computer i have Windows 7 installed. I formatted the Second computer's hardrive and i have connected it to the first computer . and have installed Windows 7 in it.(It is a single partition of 400 GB). But , when i disconnect the harddisk and connect it to second computer , it does not bootup. Does this mean that there is some issue with bootfile mapping and naming of the drive ?

If yes , then is there a way to get this fixed so that i can get some sleep. Spent three nights after college googling and came across this thread .

I have downloaded Easy BCD , but it is complete Greek and Latin for me .Please can anyone explain how to fix this.

Below is what Easy BCD says ...

Bootloader Path: \ntldr

Entry #2

Drive: G:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

Entry #3

Name: Windows 7

Drive: K:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Why did you plug Hard drive into 1st computer to install Windows? Why not leave it in 2nd computer and install from there?

praju7, hello. In the configuration shown with BCD, above, the G: drive is dependent on the boot manager stored on C:. When you move that G: drive by itself to another system, it does not have a boot manager of it's own. It may not even have a BCD store of it's own.

On the system where you have put this G: drive, boot from the Windows 7 DVD, select "Repair Your Computer" and run Startup Repair.
