One would think there is room for everybody. They should focus their brains on something useful. http://blogs.chron.com/techblo.....ows_1.html

Apple's taking a hit over their new Safari debacle,
http://slashdot.org/article.pl.....22/1536250

IMO, Safari for Windows is a pile of poo.

Reply about Apple Advertisements:
Yes. It's a pretty low tactic to criticize your competition about things that aren't even completely correct.
The big problem I find with Apple's ads is that they say Vista is bad and that you should switch to a Mac when the Windows XP to Windows Vista path has less troubles then Windows XP to Mac OS X does in many cases.
You could have the same driver problems with Mac OS X as you would have with Windows Vista.

Reply about Safari:
I had no idea about that.
That's worse then my current beef with Apple Software Update that it forces iTunes to installed with QuickTime when you only have QuickTime installed.

About both:
From what I've heard Mac OS X is a good OS just like Windows, Linux and other OSes.
None are better then the other. It's too bad that saying PCs suck is the way Mac OS X is being marketed.
I have tried Safari and didn't think it was that bad. It had some nice features. I still like Firefox more though as I can customize it and add more features to it.
I don't like that QuickTime, iTunes and Safari for Windows are themed to look like they do on a Mac though. Compared to other Windows programs they are like a fish out of water.

My favorite example of Apple's arrogance is the way computers networked with Leopard show up in the network connections: any Windows boxes on the network show up as an old beige CRT monitor displaying a blue screen of death. Infuriating.

My big peeve with Safari is that there is no way to have a bookmark bar on the front page. You have to change away from the main to click a favorite site. IE, Firefox, Opera, Flock all have this basic convenience.

Talk about arrogance, sheesh.

@Scott: What do you mean by "Bookmark bar on the front page"? The is a toolbar with bookmarks in it like Internet Explorer and Firefox has.

Yes.

Oddly enough the ImageGrotto site I used before didn't work this time so I used Imageshack.
The third toolbar at the top has the bookmarks bar.

jd, I discovered that Image Grotto takes only JPEG files. Your snip might have been in PNG or Tiff.

@whs: Ok. That is odd. I'm fairly sure I had used PNG files before with that web site.
Also png is listed as supported at the top of the site.
I'll email the people at that site and see if I can figure out what is wrong.

jd, Well, all I can tell you that I had the problem yesterday. Did not work in PNG, but after reformatting to JPEG, it worked. Ya, was on this thread: http://www.howtogeek.com/forum.....replies=10

JD, thanks for posting. I wasn't clear enough. I meant the Bookmark Sidebar, not the Toolbar.

JD, can you show me a screen with the bookmark sidebar on the Safari start page?

I looked and you are right, Safari doesn't have a bookmark sidebar that doesn't cover the current web page too.
I searched online and found this true with the OS X version too though there is a plugin to add it to the OS X version.

@ Luke- I use to be a Mac technician for CompUSA. I found that most mac desktops(i.e. iMac) are rather easy to take apart. but when it came to laptops they were horrible. also as soon as the added the iSight to the iMac they became very difficult to work on.
