With my IE I cannot pull up any posts any more. Just the Forum top page. With Opera I can pull up the posts, but I cannot log in. Anybody have similar problems. New Topic is about the only operation that works.

It seems to be working fine for me, I'm guessing there's a network issue going on.

Connection requests per second aren't out of line with norms.

Sorry I made such a mess with 2 posts. But as far as I could see, this first one did not go thru. Then I switched Kaspersky off and things came back to normal. But that, of course, cannot be the normal mode of operation. So I have to chase down the Kaspersky guys. Maybe an update today did it. Everything else on the web works normally though. Go figure.

Somebody else in another thread mentioned a similar networking problem... I'm wondering if there's something going on with internet routers.

You may be right. Now things are back to normal - even with Kaspersky running. I wonder what the role of Kaspersky was in all of that.

Unfortunately the damn problem is back. And again, if I disable Kaspersky, it works fine. I guess I have some homework.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Kaspersky. But the same problem persists - in IE and Opera. I guess I have to get rid of Kaspersky. Fortunately I have some product keys for Norton IS and McAfee (not my prime choice) flying around. But who would have thought that I can work perfectly well on AOL. Good, old AOL does at least that well.

so other sites work on ie and opera or just this one is bad? could be a firewall that is maybe doing it.

Jack, everything worked. I just could not pull up Forum posts. No problem with the main page of the Forum, but from there, I could not get anywhere. It did work on AOL though. But they do their own security checking. The Vista Firewall was off. So there could not have been a conflict. There might have been a conflict though with my Norton Ghost. I just uninstalled Kaspersky and installed Norton IS. I prefer Kaspersky but at least now things are back to normal.

I really don't know what to think about it. Maybe it considered the stuff from the Forum as Pop-ups. It just would not load them. But since I like to get at the Forum from all my browsers, I chose the Norton route. Now I have 3 Kaspersky license keys sitting around - but fortunately I did not pay for them. They were a free promotion.

I'm running Kaspersky AV 7.0 and not having problems here. With both Firefox 2 and IE7 I can log in and read posts. I don't see any difference in the forum using either browser, though FF is my primary.

ScottW, that's interesting because mine was also AV 7.0. There are (at least) 2 possibilties. a) I may have a program that conflicts with Kaspersky (Norton Ghost would be my first suspect) or b) you made some Kaspersky settings that I did not have. I only had the vanilla installation without changes. Any thoughts?

whs, I have Norton Ghost 12. I know yours it 14, but I don't believe there is much difference. I haven't messed with the settings in KAV7, I just let it do what it wants.

Maybe KAV7 is being too aggressive with it's Internet protection? You could try turning off Web Anti-virus and look for other settings related to network or intrusion protection. Can't think of anything else just now. KAV7 has not caused me any trouble.

Hmm, you did not change any KAV7 settings, neither did I. You have Ghost, so do I. I guess I am on the wrong track. But it must be something at the system level because it impacted both IE and Opera. Maybe it does not like my Netgear Modem/Router. Because other than that, I don't have anything exotic (a few Applications, Office 2007, Spybot, WinPatrol and the stuff that comes with a Dell PC). Puzzeling! But the good news is, with Norton IS there is no problem.
