i have built my own pc about a year ago and although i say it myself i am very pleased with it, i was just wondering if it is suitable for playing games on?

it has an ez cool full size tower, alpha power 850w psu, gigabyte ga-m68sm-s2l motherboard, amd phenom 9650 quad core processor, terratec aureon 5.1 sound card, xfx nvidia geforce 512mb 9500gt graphics card, western digital 500gb sata hard drive, 2 x sony sata dvd rw, 4gb crucial ram and four cooling fans all running directly off the psu.

the game i was thinking of running s crysis!

the overall configuration is good, but i think for crisis, the 9500gt will not be enough for best results. it needs atleast 8600GT or a 9800GT.

Hi xenomorph200, the Crysis engine is in a league of it´s own!! I have 2 8800GT´s in SLI (practically the same as the 9800GT) and it still won´t run fluently on very high details. What size monitor are you using, it´s not just the card to take into consideration but also the resolution you want to play at. Matt

xenomorph200, unfortunately you will have big problems using a 22" monitor with your graphics card. If you have the money then do as mickeyblue said and consider buying a new one.

i agree madmacs, crysis is a monster........ definately needs a GTX260, best bang for buck card. xenomorph your system is fine otherwise just upgrade the graphics card and you will be fine.

Xenomorph... Stupendous name! I'm an Alien freak too.

Welcome to HTG. I agree with mickeyblue & madmacs on the GPU. Although you could play on lower resolutions, it will not look good on a 22" screen.

I don't have any experience with ATI cards to recommend one comparable with the GTX 260 but I'd guess 4800 series would be about right.

hey guys been looking around at the recommended GTX 260 card and its huge 10.5 inches long which would go straight over my sata plugs how do i overcome this?
would simply buying some 'L' SATA cables surfice?

hmmmm, see problem is its a micro atx board (smaller than normal ATX boards) and i googled your make and model and i see what you mean about the SATA ports that will most likely be blocked off by the GTX260, this isnt usually a problem on an ATX board.
if you get some RIght angle SATA cables example you might get away with it, id first try it out or measure the space between the card and the SATA connector. it could just work.
