Is it safe to remove laptop battery when laptop is plugged in and on?
Usually I use my laptop without the battery and plugged in to an outlet. Sometimes I use my laptop at school and deplete the battery, I come home to recharge the battery. When it's done charging: I turn off laptop, unplug it, remove battery, plug it in again and turn it back on. It's tedious but I do it for precaution.

But I was wondering, is it safe to just remove the battery when my laptop is on and plugged in? I have an HP Pavilion g6 if that's an important factor.

I would not trust it to be safe. Since there are electrical currents traveling through the batteries interface as a minimum one which tests to see if it needs charging. If it happens to be charging that would be an additional danger. When messing with electricity it is always best to be safe.
