ipod lcd replacement

When I replace the Lcd and digitizer on my ipod 4 gen does it factory reset.

reset by holding both buttons ( home/power ) down for 60 seconds ? is that how youre trying to factory reset it ?

No I don't want it to. I'm asking if it will automatically do it. If so can I just back it up on itunes first and then sync it again.
