iOS 5 - BBC iPlayer screen goes black but I can still hear sound

I've been watching iPlayer regularly on the iPad my son bought me at Christmas. Last week I started to watch a programme but 30 seconds into it the screen went completely black, but the sound remained.

Is there anything I can to do to get iPlayer working again.

Incidentally, the iPad was bought in the USA - would that have anything to do with the problem?

Did you watch it on the default browser (Safari)?

I'd downloaded the ipad app for iPlayer and tried to watch it on that.

Have you tried it in Safari, Opera, or any other player?
Try removing, and then reinstalling the app.

I unstalled the app and reinstalled it - no joy. I'll try your suggestion re Safari. I'm wondering if my download speed is sufficient - though it was fine.

If it WAS working fine and it doesn't work now, something might have changed...
