invalid win 32 application

I downloaded java jre-6u37 on windows xp pro but when I run it show that desktop\jre-6U37-window-x64.exe is an invalid win 32 application
any help is appreciated

If you are on XP chances are you have a 32-bit operating system., The program you are trying to run is a 64-bit program (x64) and therefore is not a valid 32-bit program. Find the 32-bit version download and install that.

Choose the Windows x86 version which, oddly enough, is NOT an 86-bit version, but the 32-bit version you need.
