I finally finished building my new computer.
Now that it is up and running , fast and great on my home LAN.
I have issues with the internet speed. Download speed and upload.
My old laptop , the one I use to post here, gets an average of 23 Mbps down and 2.9 Mbps up
My work laptop computer always gets at least 48 Mbps down and 2.9 Mbps up
But the new desktop that I just built is at 2Mbps down and 1.08 Mbps up
I can not seem to find any differences in the settings
so if any one has an idea of what may be going on ,
all suggestions are most welcome. I pay for a 50 Mbps download 5Mbps upload internet plan

The parts list of the new desktop are in this forum post.

I am at a loss as to why the new desktop has slow internet access ,
Is there some setting that I am overlooking or what I cant figure it out .

Other than that I am most happy with my new rig.

Two things: Have you checked the new computer is not being restricted at the router with some bandwidth setting and it's best to do readings at different times of the day to eliminate traffic variations...you could have picked a bad period. Your router is the beginning of the signal chain so I would start there.

Two things that might be worth looking at, as a process of elimination;
1) The ethernet cable (have you another)
2) The driver for the NIC

well after changing cables and double checking my Lan driver ,, then just bashing my head on the fireplace acouple times.
I still had the slow speeds. Then I disabled avast and look now its all good ,
So I re enable avast and it is still good. WHY THAT Worked #$%$%^ ????

None of this made any sense ,but of all the troubles I had with this build ,, mostly forgetting stuff,
then having to undo something to put something else in. IE my wireless :
That sucked alot. because I was almost done ,,then I saw it still on the table.

If you know my MB you understand !!

Anyway thank you String,, Mike,, and Ron for responding ,,Yeah it works now!

Well, that is very odd, but at least you solved it, thanks for getting back with the resolve, happy surfing

Sometimes Computers should be renamed Complicators!

I think, maybe, whatever Avast was blocking became enabled when Avast was disabled. When Avast was enabled again Avast adapted to the new condition and stopped restricting it...if that makes any sense! :D.

Check Intel Update Site.
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/s.....ct/network

Asus does not update Intel Drivers as often as they should.

Will have to configure new driver(s) if found and downloaded plus installed.
