I install XP on the hard drive and when the first blue screen is done it goes to reboot the computer but it wont it shows a message "detect drives done, no drive found" but the drive shows up under SATA 1 in the bios and shows up when installing windows but why does it not get detected when booting up???

This might be the same problem I had this weekend. http://www.howtogeek.com/forum.....?replies=7 It's pretty long, but try copying all of your SATA drivers (including cd/dvd drivers) to a USB stick so you can tell Windows where to find them.

in my install it never gets to a point of asking to search for anything. when it reboots it stays on the black screens that same damn message every time "detect drives done, no drive found" then the computer flashes a quick message you can't even read then just reboots on its own. there is never a time where you can do anything.

Glengimen,

Believe you are referring to this solution.

You are going to have to make a slipstream for your XP installation.
