installing update

hello every one! i hope u all are fine. I m on windows7 build 7000. i recently installed 5 important updates.

the one Update for Windows 7 Client Beta (KB963660)

Download size: 1.7 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Important

Install this update to resolve issues with Media Player or Media Center for Windows 7 Beta where multimedia codecs are not functioning on or after 15 March 2009. this update installs succesfully but upon restart it fails to configure itself. and reverts settings back. the problem is that it does this every time i restart, its so annoying. any ideas??

Without something more, such as an error message, I can only suggest that you follow the general troubleshooting tips from MS:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906602

Perhaps this will expose an error number that you could look up specifically. Or, you might be able to clear out the update that won't finish and try it again.

So its confirmed that its a bug within this update, nothing so serious, i ve hidden that update so it does not bother me any more.

Kramd, your image has an error code in it: 80004001. Searching on that and the KB number, I don't see anything that might help. There was just one forum thread where others reported a problem with this update on Win7 x64:

Since the update has to do with codecs, I'm wondering if either of you have installed any DirectShow filters or codec packs under Win7?
