Makes a change, this isn't my problem (friend of the daughters)...

Have downloaded drivers for a Lexmark x3470 printer (original CD long since lost)however when I come to install, it says I need to restart my computer and won't let me get past this stage.

Thought it might be getting clever and would resume installation once I'd rebooted ... NO such luck !!!

Any ideas people ...

Is it a USB printer?
Also just to check, is it turned on?

It is USB and Yes it is turned on ...

Problem arises as soon as it starts the installation phase, so wouldn't really matter if the printer was on or not.

In actual fact not supposed to connect it to the PC till it asks how the printer is connected ...

Steve. I just downloaded it just to see whether it works. Came down without any problems - is quite big though. Deleted it, of course, because I don't have such a printer. I used this (3430) website where it directed me when I did a search for the 3470. http://downloads.lexmark.com/c.....38;target=
