Hello, ive been trying to install ubuntu on my system. As soon as i boot my system using the live cd, the screen gets hanged on the very first screen itself i.e the screen showing two icons.
Can anyone suggest how to proceed further?

When you boot from the CD/DVD, you will first see this tiny logo at the bottom of the screen:

At this point you must press ENTER. You will be presented with a list of languages, English is already selected so press ENTER. Then you will see this:

Press F6, and go down to "nomodeset" by pressing DOWN ARROW.

Press SPACE, the "nomodeset" option will be selected.
Press ESC, the menu will close.
Press ENTER to boot into Ubuntu.

@Ruja, I believe that you press shift when you see that icon.

OP, I'd recommend what scorpion99 is recommending. You get the best of both worlds. :-)

wubi will not work on windows 8 machine booting from UEFI. If you have Windows 8 from an upgrade or a clean install on a mobo booting from BIOS wubi will work.
