I have just removed the tick on the box for "Index this drive for faster searching" in Properties for my local disk (C:)

obviously (i think!) this will make searching for files slower, but are there any other side effects lol

just reported my own forum! lol

what i was trying to do was change it to the Windows Vista forum as that's what I have and not Windows 7 lol

One side effect may be that your system runs faster. Other than that, no.
I always have indexing turned off.
