In Mac terminal what is "ditto" pid 26940 ?

I checked all open app's on my mac with "top" in terminal. I find that something called "ditto" is using about 90% of my mac's cpu. Any ideas on what this might be? The pid is 26940.

ditto is a process that copies files and directories, usually used for cloning your system.

I suspect it's part of Time Machine if you are running Leopard, but it could also be some other application that is making a backup.
