(Solved) - I have to format my hard drive... NO!

i have this external drive that i keep a whole bunch of stuff on, when i plug it in vista now tells me i need to format it in order to use it.. please guys... i dont wanna format my drive... is there a fix for this?

Snugglez, you are not the first to have this problem. Follow along with this old thread and the links in it:

Acronis Disk Director has fixed the problem for 2 other users. I thought before that it might just be a problem in the Master Boot Record, but Acronis seems to do more than just fix the MBR.

What do you see in Disk Management for the external drive partitions?

i had no luck so i took the plunge and formatted the drive anyways.. thanks anyway ScottW
