Does anyone have the problem where they can't write loads of stuff in the the edit/reply box?

What do you mean by "loads of stuff"? A few lines of text? 50 lines of text? More lines?

It stops me at about 18 lines of text!

Hmm. That is odd. I use Firefox 2 and my UAC post is about 48 lines.
Also for me Firefox doesn't limit what I can enter at all. Though it appears from other posts I've seen HTG will cut the post at about 1000 lines.

There's no limit in the source code, but there's probably some cut-off size somewhere.

From what I've read, different browsers have problems with certain amounts of text.

I have not yet seen a limit with IE either. But I have not tested the 1000 lines yet.

Normally it wouldn't matter, cos as you guys know, I don't type much. But I wanted to do a big SP1 thing, and can't!

I think the browser choice could be debated and nether are really always better or suck.
I would say both Internet Explorer and Firefox have their pros and cons.

Ya, Firefox does not even let me log into the HTG Forum. I must have missed a "Plug-in of the day" somewhen last year. It remembers my ID and password, but refuses to log me in. I like the idea of a second browser especially when I want to look something up in the middle of a Forum posting. I may try Opera for that instead because AOL also has it's flaws.

Of course, blame the browser.

Who else is there to blame. I expect this stuff to work without having to research a dissertation about it. I am a "basic user".

That's very odd that Firefox doesn't work for you... I do almost all my testing in Firefox, and I've got 4 different Firefox installations that I use for testing, never seen an issue.

I also test the entire site in Opera, Safari and IE6 / IE7 and even IE8 (there are a few issues with the site in IE6 and 8)

It really gets to be a pain for a website owner that there are so many browsers... far too much testing required.

Who knows, not a big problem. I am not a big Firefox fan anyhow. Too much to look after. I like to keep things simpel.

You aren't alone, there are a lot of people that I know that have switched back to IE 7 after being Firefox users. It really is all about user preference.

Yep, it is.
I like Firefox as there are a lot of useful extensions, advanced features and customization I can do with it.
I think Internet Explorer works just fine also for normal browsing when you don't need a bunch of extra things.
I used Internet Explorer 6 for quite a while until Firefox came out and many people said it was better then Internet Explorer.
The main things I like about Firefox over Internet Explorer is the Tab Browsing, Find as you type and Spell Checker.
If I hadn't found so many useful other features and extensions after switching to Firefox I probably would switched to Internet Explorer 7 + IE7Pro.
I still use Internet Explorer 7 + IE7Pro when I can't use or don't need Firefox.

Can you give an example? It always seemed just as easy to use in it's default state as Internet Explorer to me.
