It seems when I go to howtogeek.com I am redirected to a rick roll video on youtube, but not when I go to www.howtogeek.com or in google chrome. Why does HTG do this it is rather frustrating, non constructive, and just stupid

zimm3r hi. I suspect the re-direct is malware in your browser. Try running it with no add-ons.

Huh, I tried disabling addons; still does it; I used HTTPFox and wireshark to observe the network traffic

HTTPFox shows that howtogeek.com is cached and it is a 301 redirect (but it doesn't show wear to) and then the next request is for the youtube url

Wireshark just shows the youtube url being requested, no howtogeek.com request...

Ok I just cleared the Cache; Offline Website Data; and Site Preferences, and it is back to normal. I am guessing howtogeek.com was cached and as a resault was redirect to the youtube url. Anyone got any theories or ideas how it could have started.

Wait and see if it comes back. Shutdown and restart your computer too.
