Hi Everyone,

I was just looking at the main HTG site, and saw this article:
http://www.howtogeek.com/10799.....o-windows/

It has a number of comments saying that comodo was detecting it as a virus. MSE did not detect anything, but I thought I should check before installing it.
Could their site have been hacked?

Got a green at WOT:

Update 1: Virustotal is currently analysing it for me.

Update 2: Went through fine at Virustotal. Starting to doubt it is infected now...

Have never used it if WOT says it's safe and so does everything else then I guess only the individual can be the real judge.

However, I would question any one who owns a site and then states their country as being "xianggangtebiexingzhengqu" as well as the province/state and city.

@GuiltySpark
Didn't think of checking the whois details for the domain.

For anyone who doesn't know how to find them. they are here:

I still haven't installed it, but am very tempted... ;)

OK...

I gave into temptation! It's a really nice program, and I would hate for it to be infected. I can see myself using it daily!
Virustotal is not showing anything up, so I think it's clean.

I'm currently running a quick MSE scan. Should be finished in a minute.

Update: MSE scan finished. No threats detected.

@GS,

To obtain a top level domain, one does not have to give any formation anymore, just pay the price is all.

My Registrar advised me to secret my TDLs and provide no information.

I don't understand the system anymore or who polices it !?!?

Good point.

A few weeks ago, me & one of my friends decided to start a small business, and we decided to get a website. As I'm a web developer, I knew the person who hosts the website I work on (he lives very locally). I spoke to him and got the go ahead to use their hosting, as long as I paid for the domain.
I now have a really professional looking website for only a few quid a year :)

So if you lookup the whois info, It gives his info, not mine. I am thankful for this, as I wanted to stay anonymous. There is another example that might confuse people, but has a logical explanation. Could be something similar for this guy?

@minigeek: you should put it in your profile so we can take a peek.

@Xhi

Sadly not, as it gives too much info about me away. I'm only 13 and like to stay anonymous on here.

However, I can tell you that it's powered by CMS made simple. A demo website is here:
http://www.opensourcecms.com/d.....ade+Simple

(No ads on our website, and a different colour and logo positioning.)

@MiniGeek,

Yep, I understand your situation because your friend has a block of IPs so you are really on what use to be known as a Secondary Level Domain.

What I don't understand is how folks can get Top Level Domain Blocks of IPs and have them secreted ??

This would appear to put the whole internet system into jeopardy would it not ?

AH, yes, minigeek, I keep forgetting you are 13 going on 63. You are wise in that decision. I sure wish you lived next door to me.
