I formatted my cdrive, and reloaded xp and vista upgrade. I used my quickplay recovery disk to reinstall quickplay. The quickplay buttons don't work. I checked msconfig/startup and quickplay buttons are not listed there. Can you help? Thank you.

Yes, I can help. And not a problem for if I / when I do fix your problem. You will need to either use the Driver CD (or DVD) / Recovery CD (or DVD) to find the drivers for your laptop and install them all. If you can't find them there, do a quick Google search for your drivers and install them. If they are QuickPlay buttons, I would imagine they would be keyboard related.

Thanks for your reply. I cannot find Quickplay on my computer. I went to Control panel/programs and it is not listed. I went to device manager and only PS2 was listed under the keyboard. I attempted to update drivers and each time received a message that the most current drivers are installed. HP tells me that because I have installed a new operating system, the quickplay that was bundled with my system is lost and unrecoverable, and my only option is to reinstall the original OS software. I actually don't care to operate my media system without the ocmputer running, which I understand is the primary purpose of Quickplay. I would just like the use to the DVD and Music buttons to open my media programs. Any other ideas? Thank you!

In vista, the first ten quick launch buttons (bottom left corner next to start menu) can be accessed by pressing the windows key and the corresponding number. My third shortcut button is firefox, so I would press Windows+3 to start it. You can put your dvd and music programs into the quick launch area and use the shortcut keystroke to open them.
