I am working on a HP Pavilion dv900, and the screen seems dim. The brightness level is turned all the way up. I have search google about the laptop and supposedly it has a brightview screen, and most people boast about how bright the screen is.

Am I missing something or is this laptop generally dimmer than average?

Does the brightness change when you turn the level down?

Yes it does. I have been messing around in the nvidia configuration settings and was able to make the screen a little brighter, but it just doesn't seem as crisp as the Lenovo Y410 I am also currently working on.

Whites especially are not as bright as crisp on this screen.

Just had a quick look at some reviews here

(only 1 slight mention of screen)
If you bought it locally, or there is a store locally that sells this model. I would take it in and ask to compare with another one.
