hp pavilion dv6915nr microphone not working in ubuntu 8.04

so i'm trying to get skype to work on my ubuntu and the mic does not seem to want to work i have been looking around for the last couple days but can't seem to find anything that works and i would just like to get my mic to work so i can record other things like for school or whatever

hope you guys can help because i am about to give up pretty soon here :(

no i tried both of those that you posted and neither of them seemed to work :( i am beginning to think that it is impossible. i have done soo much reading and nothing seems to help

@jack,

Yes there were plenty more I could have posted but you have read them by now I feel sure.
When I was experimenting with Ubuntu, never really thought about the mike however I see why it would be great for your purposes in college.

ya and i can't really use skype with out it :( i hope i can get it working soon
