I managed to install ubuntu 7.04 ultimate gamerz on my amd athlon desktop with 2gb ram and ati radeon x1300. I tried to install the ati drivers which I got from companion dvd of a magazine. The name of the driver is ati-x86.x86_64.run, size more than 30 mb. When I first double clicked the file, it was unrecognised. So I change the properties to "executable". Now it run, creating a folder and unpack files into it, then popped this message: "must run as supervisor" or something like that, then deleted the folder. My question is: how to run a program as superuser?

how to run a program as superuser?
(6 posts)If you are Ok with using the command line, here are some instructions from Ubuntu community docs;

@michael: That would not work. In fact it would probably cause some permission and security problems.
@bamsan: The instructions at the link Teufel posted will probably work better then running that file from a CD as the one on the CD probably wasn't designed for installing on Ubuntu.
