I managed to install ubuntu 7.04 ultimate gamerz on my amd athlon desktop with 2gb ram and ati radeon x1300. I tried to install the ati drivers which I got from companion dvd of a magazine. The name of the driver is ati-x86.x86_64.run, size more than 30 mb. When I first double clicked the file, it was unrecognised. So I change the properties to "executable". Now it run, creating a folder and unpack files into it, then popped this message: "must run as supervisor" or something like that, then deleted the folder. My question is: how to run a program as superuser?

Hmmz. Try going into "Users" and changing your usergroup to root?

If you are Ok with using the command line, here are some instructions from Ubuntu community docs;

@michael: That would not work. In fact it would probably cause some permission and security problems.

@bamsan: The instructions at the link Teufel posted will probably work better then running that file from a CD as the one on the CD probably wasn't designed for installing on Ubuntu.

Yeah - you want to upgrade your video card for that, I would think.
