How to restore Compaq Presario to factory settings without disk
(8 posts)Guys,
i know that this forum is subjected to computer needs and help but if you read the sticky on this forum you will see what this forum is all about. I am NOT here to be a bully or push my weight around i am just trying to keep Assistive Tech separate from computer stuff.
Thank you,
John Meeks
@John. If you notice in my post above I ask the OP to identify his operating system so I could properly reassign the topic. I expected an answer and was waiting patiently, but I will move to Geek stuff. I do constantly respect this topic. The name is confusing to those who would like assistance with their technology.
Oren,
i wasn't signaling you out i know what you and other mods do here and it's appreciated i didn't mean anything by it. Now to the name, if the OPS will take the time and read the sticky on this forum it clearly states what this is, and what it is about but sadly most don't do that. Again i apologize and thank you!
John
Hi, I own a Compaq Presario CQ57-364EA and mine has a recovery partition installed in the factory on the hard drive (D:\ in Windows). You can use this partition to access HP Recovery Manager without launching Windows, which you can then use to restore the system using Windows System Restore or alternatively do a factory reset from the system image on the recovery partition. But your laptop may not have a recovery partition, especially if it is a netbook.
**Forgot to mention - to launch the recovery environment press F2 repeatedly immediately after pressing the power button and select the relevant option (Recovery Environment) from the list - forgotten the exact 'F' key and can't be bothered to reboot!!!
