How to Open Application on a Mac

I'm at my sister's & she has a mac. An application called uTorrent is on her computer, and
since I'm a Windows user I can't figure out how to open uTorrent so I can use it, and
she doesn't know how either.
I can find the application but not "run" it to use it. Any one help please!

utorrent comes for both windows and mac but both have different installation files. make sure the one you are having is the one for mac

I made sure to download the mac version. When I double-click on it under "Finder" the icon
jumps a little bit, then goes away. I am able to open Firefox obviously, by double-
clicking on it.
Maybe I'll go back and just "run" the application instead of downloading it. Thanks, Mary
