Hi!

I would like to know how I can make Windows XP my default OS? Every time I start up the computer, I get a black screen that gives me the option to start with Kubuntu or Windows XP. However, if I don't make a decision within 10 seconds, the Kubuntu OS loads! There has got to be a 'simple' way to change the startup
OS order. Since I don't understand Linux Kubuntu at all, getting me to change the default OS setting through Linux will be useless. I need step by step instructions on how to do it simpler.

I also would like to know if there is a simpler Linux OS that looks a lot more like Windows and is as easy to set up, especially the e-mail and the printer settings as I've had Kubuntu for over two weeks now, and I still haven't been able to configure the e-mail and the printer settings properly! There is no point in having an OS if I can't use e-mail or print things out! Thanks!

You are going to have to make an edit to your C:\boot.ini, make a copy of the text that you have and post it here and we should be able tell you what changes you need to make.

@Budohourseman: That would only apply if NT Loader is the boot loader and it appears that isn't the case.

It sounds like Kbuntu set up grub or lilo as the default boot loader.
You will need to change the default entry from within Kbuntu for that.
I'll have to look online and see how that is done in Kbuntu and reply back on that.

Good point, and to be honest I do not have a dual boot linux/windows box, so I'll pass it on to you.

I haven't found anything yet.
I know from experience with other linux distros that you can just open a terminal, type sudo kwrite /boot/grub/grub.conf, press enter and change the default setting but it sounds like maybe a bit tricky for a non geek.
I'm going to download Kubuntu and see if I can find an easier way to do it.
