My neighbor got a computer from his sister and he needs the recovery disks. She swears she did not get any disks with the computer and never made any recovery disks. HP site tells how to make the disks but the links are not on the system which HP says is because they were already made by someone. He contacted HP to see if he could buy them and they are not available since the computer is over 4 years old. They told him the set is a 7 disk set with product information of 5066-0364, WEM# 14NABABCD9. They then said to search the Internet to see if he could find them. So far he has no luck without spending 90 plus dollars. Anyone know where he can get them? He really doesn't want to pay much for them.

(3 posts)Well first the hard drive is very small you might just buy a hard drive that has copy software for about the cost of the recovery disc and you can go to HP website for detail instructions on replacement. Or try this link has good info for creating a bootable disc.

grandmarana, did he try restoring the system using the recovery partition on the hard drive? Press F10 at boot time to access the utility which will restore the software to the way it was when it left the factory. It might even be possible to burn the recovery discs after this operation is complete. Generic instructions are available from HP.
