I assume it's getting bigger as you are adding data to it?

What version of Excel are you using? I think there's a compression option on one of the versions, but I'll have to check with mysticgeek, our expert on office.

Wow, this is a tough one. Unlike Access Excel doesn't include any type of compression feature. The way Excel is designed is the more data you enter and formulas to calculate more numbers... the file is going to grow.

I would try to remove duplicate entries... this might help Just follow these Microsoft Directions:
http://office.microsoft.com/en.....61033.aspx

You could try to copy all of the sheets into a new workbook...

Other than that I know there are a few third party software applications that may do what you need. Just do a Google search for "remove duplicate entries Excel"

I'm using the excel 2003 version, actually I've tried to copy all those sheets into a new workbook, but still the size of file didn't shrink´╝î I guess this is a big problem while using excel as data supporting. Anyway, thanks for your replies, really appreciated =)

I put 2 big excel file in one folder and zipped it, over 10M turned to be 228k, but if I simple zip a single excel, the size doesn't change much. So, guys who meet this problem may try this method~~cheers~~
