How to make a laptop battery work for any laptop?
I have a SONY Vaio laptop and the battery doesn't hold a charge in it. So I decided to buy a new one so I don't have to plug it in to use it.

Seeing as how new batteries are vey expensive, I eventually found the cheapest one I could find and bought it. When it came, it's the same exact size and brand for the laptop, just the software bios for it doesn't support my computer model.

Can I fix this so I don't have to send the batteries back?

wellsbbs1, Hi.

Generic or 'copy' replacement batteries are not a good idea. Laptop batteries are built in a very different way and contain sensors and charging recognition circuits.

You cannot tell the machine what to 'see' unless it has circuitry that Sony will recognise. In addition, cheap batteries may very well put your machine at risk.

Tis never a good idea to under buy in this way.
