I want to install Ubuntu 8.10 manually (means when selecting partition ). I am confusing alot while choosing manually at the time of partitioning . Please I need your help in this!

are you trying to put ubuntu on a harddrive that has windows or some other os installed and are you trying to do a dual boot??

assuming you want to hosed Windows, just follow the default settings in the installation and it'll be kind to you.

if you are doing a dual boot then you should try out Wubi: http://wubi-installer.org/

very easy to setup and dual boot from windows
