The "Documents and Settings" folder(junction) is not accessible from explorer and I would like to hide it. How can I do that? There are also other folders that are not used yet they remain and I would like to hide them.

I tried using the attrib command with the +s +h switches but that did not seem to do anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have explorer set to view hidden files?

Thanks SMG,

Yes I have set explorer to hide files. That does hide the "My Documents" folder but the "Documents and Settings" folder is still showing.

What I usually do is just hide the folders using the right-click properties menu... I choose to just hide that folder.

The documents and settings folder is a junction to the programdata or something, right? Have you set that folder to hide? Since the junction is just a link to the other folder, you might have to hide that one as well.

I'd just use the windows folder properties dialog to hide them.

SMG -

I am sorry. It did hide the "Document and Settings" folder. I nedded to close and reopen explorer. The problem now is that it also hides the Users folder. Is there any way to keep it viewable and hide the others?

Your users folder shouldn't be set to hidden or system, but the documents and settings should be set to hidden and system.

Also, you should make sure that you haven't checked "show protected operating system files" in the explorer options, because that will show system files like documents and settings.

The attrib command by default works on the target of a link so if you did attrib +S +H "C:\Documents and Settings" it actually set system and hidden on it's target C:\Users.
If you want to set attributes on links you need to do attrib /L instead of just attrib.
You need to do a attrib -S -H C:\Users to get that folder to be unhidden again.
