I have an HP PC with Windows 8 Release Preview x64 and 3 GB RAM, and a MacBook Pro 13" 2.3GHz (Late 2011) with Mac Os X Lion with 4 GB RAM. I wanted to make a bootable usb of Chrome OS Vanilla. I wanted to know if there is any way to format a bootable usb, as I couldn't find a way anywhere.

This is how I made a bootable USB stick with Windows 8. Maybe you can apply the same procedure: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=475a0a48ca6d4035&provision=1&ref=3&wa=wsignin1.0&sa=412485191#cid=475A0A48CA6D4035&id=475A0A48CA6D4035%211779

If you mean simply format the drive in Explorer simply right click the drive and select Format.
