How to Format Bootable USB?

I have an HP PC with Windows 8 Release Preview x64 and 3 GB RAM, and a MacBook Pro 13" 2.3GHz (Late 2011) with Mac Os X Lion with 4 GB RAM. I wanted to make a bootable usb of Chrome OS Vanilla. I wanted to know if there is any way to format a bootable usb, as I couldn't find a way anywhere.

I already know how to make it, I wanted to know if I can FORMAT a bootable usb...

If you mean simply format the drive in Explorer simply right click the drive and select Format.

Right click on the drive letter, and Select Format.
