I am trying to uncover the headers of my ebay and aol messages all of which are viewed remotely via internet explorer. I received lots of advise about how to do this but to no avail. Either what comes up bears no ressemblance to a header or I don't find I have the tabs and sub tabs to do it. I have tried:

View/source - and get this plus a lot more of the same:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://o.aolcdn.com/cdn.webmail.aol.com/30128/aim/fr-fr/images/favicon.ico">
<title>
AOL WebMail
</titl

I try: Edit/preferences/mail & news/view - but there is no preferences under the edit tab.....

Any ideas??

How to display the headers depends on the webmail software you are using.
It appears you are using AOL WebMail and a search for "View Headers in aol webmail" returns the page http://email.about.com/od/aoltips/qt/et071206.htm which may show how to do what you want.
