I have an email through my college that uses gmail, but it's not email@gmail.com, it's different. Is it still possible to connect Outlook with it? I tried, and it won't find the server, but with the same settings I can connect a gmail account.

Seems like your college IT should provide that information to you. Just ask them for POP3 or IMAP instructions for using your email account.
Often these setups require special Port and SSL information in addition to server name. This is found in the Outlook Accounts Advanced tab.
You can try the following settings, cant promise you much:
Imap email account
Pop3 server setting: imap.gmail.com or co.za
Smtp server setting: smtp.gmail.com or co.za
Smtp port 465 or 587, This server requires an encrypted connection
Pop port 995 or 993, This server requires an encrypted connection
