I have a Dell Dimension 4700 computer with XP Home installed. When I insert a DVD the computer thinks it is a CD and I can't backup files to the DVD. I am using the Windows backup program. I have also tried other backup programs but the computer still thinks I am inserting a CD. I have a Phillips DVD +/- RW drive installed. What am I doing wrong

Right. You will want to download this:

http://www.google.co.uk/url?q=.....NRGYKpktgA

And that will enable you to backup files with a drag and drop interface.
