How to add an Icon on the right hand pane of XP start menu
(21 posts)jorgemartins,
Under Programs, do have a HP Folder with a bunch of HP shortcuts / programs in it ??
The HP Folder may be under the Program Files branch also.
I don't have a Laptop so I'm just (guesing).
As I said, I'm running in XP Pure Classic Mode so it is extremely easy for me to see the whole XP operating system layout but not running an OEM HP machine.
One of our other members may be running a HP Laptop and will jump-in so keep watching your topic.

jorgemartins,
You can add the entry back HOWEVER it is going to take a bit of Registry work from what I can tell because your computer Manufacturer added it.
Here is an article that might explain the proceedure better than I can.
The HP Infocenter Program or Link has to be on your machine somewhere and what you will be doing is re-creating a shortcut to it in the right hand start menu pane.

I know you will have questions so post back.

If the shortcut was already on the Start Menu and you just removed it then all you need to do to get it back is to do this:
1. Right click on the Taskbar.
2. Click Properties.
3. Click The Start Menu tab.
4. Click the first "Customize..." button.
5. Scroll down in the list until you see "Manufacturer Link"* and check it.
* This is from info at http://malektips.com/xp_taskbar_start_0022.html on removing a link
