Norton's file backup has caused an annoying grey box with a slash in it- on my icons. I can't figure out how to remove it, and revert back to normal icons. Any suggestions?

Hi helasan. Navigate to here, and delete the iconcache.db
C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\IconCache.db

Then reboot the machine.

I followed instructions, very well explained. Restarted hp vista laptop, annoying grey box left corner of icon with / in box, still there.

It didn't but it does now :). Um weird. I might have an idea, but it's my bedtime. Will investigate in the morning.

Look in Norton's file backup settings, and see if you can find a "Backup Status Indicators" box to uncheck.
