not a geek, but i like this stuff and i started right here in these forums.
been here a pretty long time - learned alot and always find myself stumbling back for more.
youd be surprised if you have a knack for this stuff how much you can pick up by just asking questions and participating where you can.
another good thing is to USE THE SEARCH BAR at top right hand corner of the site. lots and lots of stuff back there.
First, you buy a pocket protector and several different colored pens.
Then I took a course, forced upon me by the US Army, called Introduction to Computers. This was in 1964. By 1966 I had a Masters in Computer Science. The second one awarded at the University of Washington and the rest is History.
Some of it comes from being first in line to get a copy of the latest Operating System. You have that opportunity this very week.
Most real Geeks are self taught.
what i did:
First when i twas a Wee little boy I stumbled upon the C:/ Drive.
I investigated some more until i reached some files with strange names.
I clicked the one with the name of "WINDOWS".
Now that folder had LOTS more oddly named files
Found the file named "System32".
Then i noticed this folder had even more files and folders!
My Curiosity peaked as i managed to find so many interesting files.
Until i stumbled upon the file named "Oobe"
Click it and noticed there were just so many odd things like the cursors and img's that i couldn't recognise.
Thats when i found the Mp3 "Title"
when i was older i looked up this giant Master Folder on the web.
And thats, when i got hooked into the geekiness of it all.
cool, i had a interest when i was small..
and now i'm trying to learn everything i can absorb.
need you guys to help me.
got a 1 in EDPM CXC

and in that class, i'm doing programming right now. using pascal
I think it's full of crap :P
