I remember that it I used to type something to find out the serial for Windows 7. Can I do that in Windows 8?
Use this... The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder
That''s an exceptional software although, I need to do it from the cmd prompt. I can't boot into Windows 8 and plan to reinstall using an iso file from the same OS.
You could try :
wmic bios get serialnumber
but I don't know if it will work in Win 8.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/.....ct-key.htm You could try something here, I don't think you can do it as you want to from a command prompt.
It's not a bad idea to try wmic anyway. Do you have a tutorial for that by any chance?
Just type it as you see in my post into a cmd prompt.
I tried it in a Windows 7 CMD and all it said was:
System Serial Number
