Hello,

I have wubi installed and working on my laptop, I need to install qtractor currently the downloaded .tar.gz file is on my ubuntu desktop, but I have no idea what to do with it from there. Please note I know next to nothing about Linux.

Here is a screenshot from the website for qtractor:

extract the folder from the .tar.gz archive (presumably in any place convenient). Through terminal cd to the extracted directory and type either:

./confuigure[==prefix=prefix]
make

or

sudo make install

That's strange. Have you successfully extracted the content folder from the tar.gz?

Anyway... if you run the terminal from the folder containing the tar.gz archive

run the following command: tar -zxvf
example: tar -zxvf qtractor-0.5.6.tar.gz

now you should have a folder named qtractor-0.5.6 (or something simular)

cd qtractor-0.5.6

and run either

./confuigure[==prefix=prefix]
make

or

sudo make install

let me know how it goes :)

I have extracted it.

How do you run terminal from the folder, no options I can see on the right click.

thanks

ok. You might need nautilus file browser for that.

sudo apt-get install nautilus-open-terminal

You may need to restart nautilus for the change to appear.
killall nautilus && nautilus

you then should be able to right-click and run terminal from current folder.

Thanks for your help.

Rather foolishly I found that you can get it via the ubuntu software centre,
