How do I definitively determine if a flash drive is version 2.0 or 3.0?

How do I definitively determine if a flash drive is version 2.0 or 3.0? I need to use a method other than a speed test.

Version 3.0 devices have a blue "tongue" 2.0 devices have a black "tongue". This also applies to the ports as well. Both will work in either port.

Are you talking about a USB? If you are, and if you are trying to use a method other than a speed test, it's going to be hard to tell the difference, other than color, which a usb 2.0 will be black and a usb 3.0 will be blue. Try copying random data anywere, and supose you are useing Windows 7 or Vista, you will see an average speed on an usb 2.0 at 15-30 mb per second vs. 40-80 on a usb 3.0. But other than that small speed test, it will be difficult to tell the difference. Hope that helps. :o)
