How come there are these funny characters in the HTG tutorials

This was probably composed in something like Word and pasted into the comment field. Some fonts in Word use special characters like the open and closing quotes are comma shaped, but reversed facing opposite directions to enclose the quote even though the same keyboard key is used. The characters there are because the original font used the special comma shaped apostrophe not the straight one on most keyboards and fonts. The internal codes are different and not printable in the font used on the web page.

coding, copy & paste, spacing can cause this anomoly when updating a news site for instance, not much to worry about.

Thanks guys. I think Xhi's explanation makes most sense. They must have used a different character for the apostrophe. That still makes me wonder why it was replaced by 3 characters. Btw: I have seen that in many HTG tutorials. I read them in IE.

I think the three characters are actually what is in the code like an escape character sequence which is interpreted by Word, for example, but simply printed by the browser which does not recognize the escape.
