Just put your xp disc in and reboot your pc. Make sure it is set to boot from cd first in the bios. Then when it boots from the cd you can format your disc and install xp.

wondecha,

Can (not) find your (L40) model number under EQUIUM on Toshiba Site.

Please look again and see if there is another number on the machine or send link to your machine.

I have to know the machine specs first.

We will try to help you.

Kindest Regards,
Rick P. ♥ :)

Rick, I had trouble finding the Equium brand at Toshiba as well. It would seem to be a brand used more in Europe/ME/Africa and not the US. I had to go to Toshiba UK or Toshiba EMEA to find the Equium:

@Wondecha, you can find XP drivers at the link above by clicking on "Drivers" in the nav bar.

@ScottW,

Appreciate the help with finding the Toshiba L40. Guess we are going to have to bookmark OEM sites by country or region. Ran into same issue with a Canadian Sony Vio model a few weeks back.

Again, Thanks.

wondecha,
Although your task appears Simple, it is Complex and (MUST) be done in a step by step manner.
==================================
The Intel Chipset Driver you downloaded is a Combined File supporting many different chipsets.
First we need to determine the (Exact Intel Chipset) which is in Your Machine.
Go here, download and run the this Intel Utility.
http://downloadcenter.intel.co.....8;lang=eng
Then we will EXTRACT the (make boot disk Chipset Intel files) for Your Chipset to include in a XP Slipstream CD which will be able see the Sata HD during the XP install process.
===================================
DO (NOT) DESTROY THE EXISTING VISTA INSTALLATION UNTIL I TELL YOU TO DO SO.
===================================

Please post back with results of running the Intel Chipset Identification Utility.
Kindest Regards,
Rick P. ♥ :)

wondecha,
Go here and download 32 Bit Floppy Config Utility 8.5.0.1032 8/18/2008
http://downloadcenter.intel.co.....me=Windows
It is located about in the middle of page under Tools, Utilities.

We will EXTRACT the F6 installation files to make a slipstream install CD.

Kindest Regards,
Rick P. ♥ :)

wondecha,

I'm still here.
Need to attend to some business this morning.
Will post help later in the day.
================================
EDIT: EXTRACT THE DIVER FILES FROM THE INTEL DOWNLOADED ZIP FILE TO A FOLDER NAMED [SATA ] ON C:\

Below is a picture of EXTRACTED Driver Files that will be needed to be INCLUDED in your Slipstream XP install CD.

Follow the How-To Link instructions for making your bootable XP CD.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto.....tallation/
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL NEW XP SLIPSTREAM CD WITHOUT POSTING BACK FIRST.
Kindest Regards,
Rick P. ♥ :)
