I just want to make an icon on my desktop to shut down the computer

Just go to start, Computer, OS (C:), Windows, System 32, type in "shutdown" into the search box. You'll see a thing called shutdown.exe. just right click it and select send to your desktop.

I hate to rain on the parade, but it doesn't always work. When I do it, or run it directly, I get a brief flash of a command line window and nothing happens. If I use the normal shutdown command it behaves as expected.
