Ho to Change default view for opening Word 2007 files

Whenever I open a document in Word 2007, the view is small icons. I do not find it very easy to find the files I am looking for. I much prefer details or list view.

Whenever I change the view to list, the next time I try to open a document I am back in icon view. Is there any way to make list or details my default view for opening documents?
