How can I hide a folder's desktop shortcut and have only a keyboard shortcut?

Give it an invisible icon, and rename the shortcut Alt + 255

Or right click on the desktop > View > uncheck "Show Desktop Icons"

whs, I think he is referring to one icon, not all of them.
