Mornin all
Granny having a nightmare, yesterday computer showed infected with 57 trojans and personal information stolen(Gave the ISP info etc).
However firewall blocked and said computer not infected.
Did a scan with antivirus and spybot .all clear.
Also did a system restore where 5 important updates were needed but would only download 3.
Now when I start up it takes ages then says there are issues with virus and firewall and when I click the info I have to click it again on virus and firewall for them to be switched on.
Anything simple I can do or do I need to go back to shop????
Help always appreciated.
Kate

Morning Kate, what exactly told you that you had 57 trojans and personal info was stolen? Was it an online website? Matt

Hi Matt
Computer came up showing the c drive infected hardrive infected and box at the bottom said Remove all and run a system check think it was microsoft page. when I clicked it another small box came up saying download when I clicked this it wanted to send it to a binary file and then was saying select another location but would not work. which is when I then did the scans etc.

You could try scanning with MBAM, update after install. Run it in safe mode and do a full system scan. See if it comes up with anything!! Matt

Hi Matt
Thansk for the info will try and keep that re safe mode.Did a run with MBAM said everything was clear but I still had the same problem of that the virus and firewalls kept dropping out and having to manually re tick them.
So in the end Granny had to pay and have it hopefully cleaned, keep fingers and anything else crossed, but lesson learnt be very very aware. and believe my own virus protection. Doh! thanks for help at the time.

I don't want to confuse anyone but MBAM is best run in normal mode {it designed that way}

umm... OK mfletch after searching I can understand your point being made. Yes, MBAM is best off being run in normal mode (with temporary folders cleaned) but sometimes that nasty little infection won´t let one do that!! (Which is why we advise our members to do so.) Your post is taken in to consideration, I myself will ask forum members to try and run it normally in future, then ask to run in safe mode. Thx for the info, Matt

c cleaner is basically a system clean up program, that gets rid of unwanted junk on your PC, i use a similar program called Ashampoo winoptimiser. and i find it to be excellent, my PC is fast and never ** touch wood** have issues. i cant guarantee how well c cleaner works but best have a look at their site to decide for yourself. here is the link.
