Sorry ulyy, you, me and whs are all out of sync, so I'll wait a few minutes for whs to come back

You can't get to this. The last cbs.log will say "access denied". But if you want to try, open C: (in Computer) and go down the line Windows > logs > etc.

Ok lighthouse, I never tried the Notepad trick. But ulyy1 apparently sees nothing. Or did I get that wrong and ulyy1 meant the filetype in Properties?

Sorry, a man has to eat. Did you see anything unusual or significant in those files?

In case we want to do a system restore, do you remember the date when this trouble started?

Try the old "Restore default" in Start Properties (Location Tab).
PS, Are there any Periods and Commas on your keyboard?

Right click on the Start orb (the color ball in the left bottom corner) > Properties > Start Menu > Customize, and see whether both Pictures and Music are marked as "Display as a Link"

Is it possible to start from scratch. What if i scrap both folders and make new ones.

I think some registry entry got mucked up. But I don't know how to fix it. We may have to try the restore route. Do you remember when the trouble started - the exact date?

I don't think starting from scratch with the folders will help. Eventually we'll be back with the problem.
